100 Monkeys Band Information
2009 was a prolific year for our primates. Releasing three full-length albums and a smaller release of four singles in a year would be more than enough for most bands, but 100 Monkeys kicked off an ambitious tour as the year winded down, as well. 2010 brought even more tour dates, a live album, a video release, and some new favorites!
2011 brings a new album, Liquid Zoo, on June 28 and a supporting nationwide tour. The Monkeys swang into Indy on June 29th and put on an excellent show! Make sure to check out the tour when it is near you.
Comprised of Jerad Anderson, M. Laurence Abrahms (Uncle Larry), Ben Graupner, Ben Johnson, and Jackson Rathbone, 100 Monkeys grew out of the high school friendship and musical compatibility of three of its members. With a sound that claims the very best of many genres, 100 Monkeys relies on intelligent lyrics, inventive melodies, and impeccable musicianship instead of labels.
One standout element of this indie band's show is the 100 Monkeys Switcheroo in which members exchange instruments...sometimes mid-song. It is also not unusual for the band to improvise a song based on a crowd suggestion, and the results are pretty amazing. In fact, this band is simply brilliant live, which is all the more exciting since there are so many chances to see them in 2011!
